FACTS ABOUT NEW YORK/ NEW JERSEY SEAPORT TERMINALS

  1. It is river Hudson that divides the New York City (NY is also a state) and the State of New Jersey (NJ is a state and not city. Some of the cities, which are close to NY city, are: Bayonne. The famous boroughs in NY city are: Manhattan (call as city in slang) Queens, Staten Island, Bronx, and Brooklyn).

  2. All Terminals in NY/NJ comes under ONE authority jurisdiction - THE PORT AUTHORITY OF NY/NJ.

  3. Following are the terminals of Port Authority in NY side:
    a) Holland Hook
    b) Red Hook

  4. Following are the terminals of Port Authority in NJ side:
    a) Global Terminal, in Bayonne City
    b) Port Newark (Comprise Port Newark Container Terminal (PNCT) & Maersk-Sealand Terminal), in Newark City
    c) Port Elizabeth, in Elizabeth City
Notes:
  1. Port Newark & Port Elizabeth are adjacent to each other and can be considered as same. Just because it comes under different city municipality it has been named differently.

  2. Some lines like NSCSA discharged contrs. at Red Hook Terminal but containers barged across the Hudson to Port Newark for deliveries.

  3. Normally all lines (except few like Maersk-Seland) mention port of discharge as NEW YORK on their BL but actually many get discharged and delivered at any of the above NJ side port terminals.
